Rhino Eisenfaust

Description

I normally don't like to post run-of-the-mill miniatures that I've painted (otherwise you'd be subjected to a million pictures of vehicles, space marines, and characters), but I felt like I had done something pretty neat with this vehicle. I put a small red LED in the back and put a switch on the bottom, so that when my troops spill out it looks all cool and Predator/Aliens-ish (bottom photo).

For those that don't know, this is an armored personnel carrier from the table-top miniature war-game, Warhammer 40,000.

For those that DO know, this is Rhino "Eisenfaust," transport for 2nd battle company (Under Captain Modi: [link]), 6th assault squad (mounted) of the Ebon Sun Space Marines. Their gene-seed originates from the Ultramarines and Novamarines respectively.

I think all my future APCs will have this conversion. I also have future plans of a Land Raider Crusader with the red interior light and a slot on the bottom where I can slide my iPod nano up into the gap behind the engine cowling. I'm not sure yet where I'll put the speakers, but I imagine it will draw a ton of fire as it rumbles across the table, annoyingly playing Carmina Burana or Die Walkure the whole time.

**UPDATE 2/26/2013 - additional fluff concerning the chapter and paint scheme:

They get a lot of unnecessary attention from the inquisition due to their pragmatic approach to battle and their lack of religious emperor zealotry (there's not a single chaplain in the chapter). They also get smack-talk from other chapters that say their camo is cowardly, but Ebon Sun Space Marines don't suffer from hurt feelings.

The truth is that it's not camouflage, it's actually a clan tartan that dates from the traditions of the people of the chapter's home-world. Cut off by warp storms and forgotten by the imperium the forge world collapsed into civil wars that ravaged the planet and lasted for hundreds of years. By the time the planet was re-discovered it had devolved into a post-urban apocalyptic landscape habited by clans bearing the distinctive camouflage of their clans' ancestors.

The current chapter paint-scheme is the tartan for clan Dohlraum (for their chapter master Ash Dohlraum...yes I'm humble enough to name my chapter master after myself). If/when the chapter gets a new master then, according to tradition, the scheme would be changed.)
